Five-second rule

Have you ever picked and eaten food dropped on the floor especially when you are so young? Frankly speaking, so many times I have. You might have a chance to hear this expression from the teens. It's very interesting and funny. Not sure if it's scientifically correct, but they say it is safe if you pick up the food on the floor and blow it up and eat within 5 seconds.

One Mississipi, Two Mississipi, Three Mississipi, ...

Have you ever seen anyone who counts like "One Mississipi, Two Mississipi, Three Mississipi .."? Why do they count like this? The basic idea here is that saying "Mississipi" takes up about a second. So, you can count seconds by saying like that way though it is not exact time but approximation. There is a similar counting when you try to sleep. One sheep, two sheep, ...  I don't believe it is to measure some amount of time.
